The most significant thing to remember when making handmade soap is proper temperature. Many soap-makers do not heat their oils to a high enough temperature which causes problems, or too high of a temperature which causes even more problems. If the oils are heated approx. 10 to 30 degrees over melt point, this should be sufficient and cause a fast trace.

Not all salts are created equal.

Sea salt. These salts are also known as "all-purpose"salt. They are high in minerals and often use to detoxify skin and soothe muscles. Very inexpensive.

Dendritic salt. These are used to retain fragrance. Essential oils are often added to these salt and subsequently these are added to normal salts.
