Make Your Own Cupcake Stand Crafty Tip

Making your own cupcake stand is a great way saving money, getting creative as well as making something personal. The folks at the Cake Decorating Store have provided a great tutorial on making your own.
And making them are a lot easier than you think and they only needs a few basic items which are:
 

• Non toxic glue
• Satin ribbon 15mm width (a reel)
• Round cake drums – 8”, 10”, 12” (one of each)
• Strong double sided tape
• Round Styrofoam cake dummies - 6” & 8” (one of each)
• Pencil
• Thick decorative paper such as wallpaper or wrapping paper
• Small thin, metal pins x 4

Begin by wrapping the satin ribbon tightly around the Styrofoam dummies starting at the bottom and working all the way to the top, so that it completely covers the dummy. Secure with the metal pins at the top / bottom to keep the ribbon in place. Cover both dummies.
 
With your chosen patterned paper face down place the drums on top of the paper and trace around each one and cut out. Attach the paper circles to the cake drums with non toxic glue. Next apply the glue around the outside edge of the cake drum and attach a strip of matching or coordinating ribbon to cover up the cake drum.
 
To assemble, place the largest ribbon covered dummy in the centre of the largest cake drum and attach with strong double sided tape, next attach the second largest cake drum on top of that, securing in the same way. Finally place the other cake dummy in the centre of the second drum and attach the last, smallest cake drum on top of that.
