Handmade Doll Clothes

Don't settle for boring, store bought clothing for your favorite doll when you can have highly fashionable, hand-sewn garments. Whether you want to shop for doll clothing for your Barbies, American Girl, Tiny Betsy, Bitty Ball, Blythe or ball jointed doll you'll be sure to find a talented seamstress or knitter to clothe your doll.

All the shop owners have also included their favorite sewing and dress-making crafty tips.
Quality Handmade Doll Clothing

My doll outfits are handmade with loving care, and most are one-of-a-kind! Occasionally I will make more than one the same, if requested. I am a perfectionist when it comes to sewing. I take great pride in creating my work to last a long time. I always pre-wash fabric, so it will not shrink when washed. I also finish & press seams for an overall professional appearance. Like my outfits, but don't have an 18 inch doll? No problem, all I need are measurements to clothe ANY size doll! :)

Sewing Doll Clothing Crafty Tip
For doll clothing, finishing the seams with a tight zig-zag stitch is just as effective as using a serger! Although finishing seams adds to the time a project takes, it presents a much neater appearance, and the garment will last longer.

Sewing Doll Clothing Crafty Tip
When sewing for dolls, avoiding bulk is the key. Eliminate seams wherever possible, use lightweight fabrics, and make sure to trim your corners before turning.

Maisiedoats Knits for Dolls

Hand knitted doll clothes for a variety of dolls, from Tiny Betsy to Ball Jointed dolls and Blythe and Vintage dolls. Custom orders available.

Doll Making Crafty Tip
Wherever possible always dress dolls from the feet up. This keeps hair, eyelashes and face painting safe. It is also a good idea to cover dolls hands before inserting in sleeves to avoid catching. A doll sock is ideal for this. Put it over the dolls hand, insert arm in the sleeve and then gently pull the sock out.

Sassy Doll Creations

Dress your 14 to 18" dolls, including American Girl or Bitty Baby dolls, in hand-sewn fashions by Sassy Doll Creations. We offer fine fashions ranging from sleepwear, bloomers, short and skirt sets and even tutus. Custom orders welcome.

Sewing Crafty Tip
Make a copy of your pattern so that the pattern will last longer, when the pattern gets too many holes from straight pins, just take the original and make another copy to use. It will save your original especially if you use the pattern as often as I do.

Tracy's Designs 1

Her grandmothers loved to sew and crochet. They both shared their passion with Tracy. Tracy now sells hand-sewn 18" doll clothing that fits American girl Dolls and other similarly-shaped 18" dolls and crochets hats for the entire family, including matching girl and doll items. Be sure to check out her fun sock monkey, froggy, owl and cupcake hats.

Crafty Tip
Find a craft you love to do, then keep experimenting and designing with it to make it uniquely yours! I've tried many different projects before making doll clothes, but I learned lots of helpful information from those projects, that have helped in techniques I use with the doll clothes, so don't be afraid to keep trying new projects or craft mediums. You never know, one day you may put them all together and have the hottest new rage around!!

Dancin Dolls

Handmade dance costumes and clothes for 18 inch dolls. This includes ballet, tap, jazz and hip hop. Ready made costumes are available and custom order are encouraged. I specialize in re-creating your child's dance recital costumes in doll-size. They make a wonderful keepsake of your little girl's moment on stage in the spotlight.

Sewing Crafty Tip
When sewing with stretchy fabric like spandex, take that extra minute to put a walking foot on your sewing machine. This moves both the bottom and top layer of your fabric evenly so your seams still meet at the end.

When working with sequin fabric, pick the sequins off of the seam allowance. This will prevent your needle from hitting the sequins in the "wrong way" and causing your machine to go out of timing. This is especially important with serger machines. There's nothing worse then having a machine in the shop!

Our Doll Fashions

What started as a way to relax after the workday is turned into an obsession. I love sewing and making doll clothes. Our Doll Fashions is my boutique featuring clothes and accessories for 18" dolls.

Sewing Doll Clothes Crafty Tip
When you purchase a sewing pattern for doll clothes, do not cut the purchased pattern. Trace the pattern onto tracing paper and cut out the pattern from the tracing paper. The tracing paper is thicker than the purchased pattern and is easier to work with.
