When molding polymer clay..be sure to dust your molds with talcum powder...it makes the clay release unharmed.

When opening jumprings, pull them apart rather than twist them...it makes closure much tighter when your done.

Jewelry Crafty Tip

When stringing beads onto thread or ribbon, put a little clear nail varnish onto the ends. This helps stiffen it making it easier to thread and stops ribbon from fraying.

Jewelry Crafty Tip

A great way to clean real natural-colour (not dyed) pearls is to submerge them in iodine-rich sea salt water. Just put some salt into a suitable bowl (add a few drops of iodine), cover with about an inch or two with water, add pearls and swirl them around for a bit, leave to stand for a few minutes & swirl some more, then dry/polish with a natural soft cloth.

Jewelry Crafty Tip

Use matching colors in mis-matching shapes for an interesting look. Monochromatic designs look terrific if you use varying materials with different shades of the same color. Try polymer clay for light-weight beads which look unique.

Jewelry Crafty Tip

Looking for a cheap and easy silver, copper, or other tarnishable metals cleaner? Try ketchup. Don't try this on items that have beads like pearls or permeable pendants, though. The acid from the tomato is a very nice cleaner, and it's readily available most anywhere you shop!

lil did creations

Jewelry Crafty Tip

Take an old cereal box, cut the top off on a diagonal. Then wrap it in decorative paper, tape or glue it. Use it as a magazine stand/holder for all of your craft magazines!

Christian Gifts and Crafts
Disciples Cross(TM) Necklaces are hand-made using nails, wire, and leather, each with a significance to the crucifixion of Christ. We sale these for $5.00 each. They come in several different colors, although we don't always have them all in stock. We usually keep around 15 different colors. The picture on the website doesn't give them justice! They are so much prettier! Buy one.....and I'm sure you'll be back for more! They are great for gifts or fund raisers.

Jewelry Crafty Tip

Consider offering your products at wholesale prices to local charities to help with their fund-raising efforts. This gives you the opportunity for bulk sales and the reward of doing something to help others while also building your brand.

Jewelry Crafty Tip

For safety reasons, at least one jump ring should not be soldered closed in jewelry. If an item constructed this way is caught on something the jump ring will open, allowing the jewelry to breakaway. Hopefully, both the person and the jewelry will be relatively unharmed. Just add another jump ring and the item will be as good as new.

Jewelry Crafty Tip

Whenever I use glue, I let it dry overnight before proceeding with project, even if it supposedly sets in 10 minutes.

Jewelry Crafty Tip

For a beginner making a beaded jewelry necklace. If you are using large beads, especially square or rectangle shapes, be sure to put smaller round or spacer beads between them. It allows your necklace to curve and hang properly. Always hold your strung necklace as you would wear it before finishing the ends.

Beqi Clothing and Accessories
Good Jewelry for Bad Girls. I've been known to use a little bit of everything, from semiprecious stone beads and pendants to tiny plastic hot dogs. My style icons are much more likely to include drag queens, burlesque performers, and black and white movie darlings than anyone with the surname Hilton.

Jewelry Crafty Tip

1.Trader Joe's reusable grocery bags fit the average bead tray perfectly for portable use.

2.Never be afraid to dissemble a project you're not happy with and start over--that's the nice thing about beads, they aren't perishable.

3.Rings n' Things and Sky Blue Pink are two good wholesale jewelry findings websites if you have a vendor ID number.

4.Customers like to know what kind of stones their jewelry is made out of, so be sure to ask bead shop owners what the names are if they aren't marked.

5.If you like plastic charms, Sand Scripts is a good place to get a lot for relatively cheap.

Jewelry Crafty Tip

When looking for inspiration when designing a new piece, we will often look to our surrounding environment outdoors for new color schemes as well as for textures and shapes.
