Jewelry Crafty Tip

If you need a really powerful magnifying glass, take the lens from an old 35mm camera, like a telephoto lens. It is compact enough to travel with you, sturdy and it is really powerful. I can't do without it for seed beading. Happy beading!

Jewelry Crafty Tip

A great way to polish out scratches in silver is to use a gently abrasive toothpaste and a piece of cotton (old cloth or sock). Also works on DVD scratches too!

Jewelry Crafty Tip

Have you considered making beads out of polymer clay and want to make unique pendants for your bead collection but can not afford the costs to buy all the equipment necessary? Starting any new hobby can often times be expensive but good news for lovers of polymer beads, there are ways around buying expensive polymer ovens and expensive shape design equipment. Polymer clay ovens are just a huge oven made on a smaller scale. It is more of a practical solution for someone who doesn't want to use their kitchen oven for baking beads! If you choose to use your own oven I would highly suggest getting a cooking tray made solely for baking and making polymer beads. (If you put a piece of aluminum foil underneath your beads when cooking it will not harm them!) Also, don't worry about buying expensive pendant molders, I like to use cookie cutters and jello cutters. They work just find to make unique pendants that are big, bold, and absolutely beautiful!

Jewelry Crafty Tip

Would you like to make your own jewelry but don't know where to begin? Find a Local Bead Store (LBS) near you - they all offer classes. If there is no bead store nearby, try Michaels or other Craft Store. Michaels often has beading demonstrations, and they have some very nice beads! Also, you can search on "Beading Instruction" or "Free Beading Tutorial" to find help online - that's how I got started!

Jewelry Crafty Tip

While we have seen a decrease in the number of jewelry pieces worn at one time, the pieces themselves are larger and bolder than ever! Instead of wearing the typical fine jewelry, women are choosing one impressive signature piece, such as a diamond-studded cuff bracelet or a custom-made cocktail ring. Fashionistas can also accomplish this look by incorporating large colored stones into their accessories. It appears this trend is here to stay as designers gear up for the release of their 2009 collections.
