Crafty Tip
If you're having trouble getting good photos of your jewelry, try using your computer's scanner instead of a digital camera. For small, fairly flat items like jewelry, you can often get really great shots simply by arranging your item on the scanner's glass, closing the lid, draping a dark cloth over the scanner to prevent any extra light from getting in - and scanning it! If you want to add a different background, you can carefully place a piece of fabric, scrapbooking paper, etc. on top of the jewelry you've arranged on the scanner glass.

Crafty Tip
Setting up your jewelry booth before a show can take forever unless you arrive with your displays already loaded up with your jewelry. It's so much easier to pre-load your jewelry onto your displays at home a few days before the show, when you have the time to organize them nicely. Once your displays are loaded with jewelry, simply wrap a sheet of bubble wrap around each loaded jewelry display to protect everything and hold the jewelry in place. Then place the bubble-wrapped display in a trash bag, and set it inside a box or plastic tub for transporting to the show. At the show, you just unwrap your loaded jewelry displays and set them on the table. You've just shaved at least an hour off your setup time at the show!

Crafty Tip
When crafting with kids it's always best to use child friendly pastes. We use plain old flour and water paste with a few drops of oil of cloves. It's non-toxic and the oil of cloves deters the little ones from tasting the paste and also prevents mould from forming on your work as it dries out.

Crafty Tip
When hooking in a small area with a limited amount of space or when shading in a small area, remember this: if you zig-zag your loops, it will appear to have more colour and the next colours will fit between the previous loops and you will not get a striped look.

Crafty Tip
Make sure you have and always promote your own domain name when selling online, whether you use it for you own independent shop or have it redirect to an Etsy or Dawanda shop. This will protect your business and give you the ability to keep the same URL if you wish to set up an independent shop later.

Crafty Tip
When it comes to bath and body products, one must remember to use only the best, all-natural ingredients that can be found. It is no game when it comes to giving people products that can potentially be harmful to someone's well-being. Always list the ingredients and make sure you let others know that no matter how natural a product may be, it is best to use with caution by doing a spot test first. Quality comes not only from the ingredients that are chosen, but also from the great care and service that comes along with the products.
