Crafty Tip

When using polymer clay, wear disposable gloves. It will prevent the dye from transferring onto your hands (especially red), and also prevent your fingerprints from showing up on the piece you are working on.

Crafty Tip

Did you know that natural soy wax has a very easy clean up, unlike some of the other waxes? Because it is natural, you just need hot soapy water to clean out the jars or tins and then they can be re-used. Or if you spill my soy wax on the counter, just wipe up with a paper towel, or if you spill on a tablecloth, no more throwing them away, or putting it in the freezer to scrape off later..no, just wash with hot soapy water and it will be as good as new!

Editor's Note:This cute little giraffe is part of a larger piece that has four other small paintings like this one. They form the hooks on a hanging rack where clothes, coats, bags, towels & even necklaces could be hung.

Crafty Tip

Finding the right place to sell your craft can make your hobby a whole lot more fun. Whilst the local craft markets might seem like a good place to start, the cost of hiring a stall and the number of products required to make it worthwhile can be prohibitive. A better option is to sell your wares online through a site such as etsy or dewanda. This will allow you to get some practice, fine tune your offering and settle on the most appropriate price.

Crafty Tip

Managing your Rag Dolls:

To keep them as new as possible and in good condition and so after some time they don't have a wobbly head, always grab them by their chest never by there heads or neck. If you grab them by their head or neck this will start to loosen the strength of the neck given by the polyfil and fabric. If you grab them by their chest, their head or neck won't suffer and your dolls will be in great condition for years to come.

When making baby gifts for an expecting mother as a gift, check her registry and take a look at the baby bedding she has registered for. This will give you a color scheme and theme ideas for your crafts and your handmade item is sure to fit in!

Crafty Tip

If you are making toys for a small baby - make it simple and always use hypo-allergenic material. Don't sew on buttons or glue on glitter - babies put their mouths on everything - you want it to be safe.
