Crafty Tip
Planning on adding grated or chopped soap to your cold process soap base? Try warming the soap bits in the oven first. This step assures a better bond between the added soap bits and the new soap base. It also reduces the temperature shock that can occur when adding extra ingredients to the base.

Crafty Tip
When working with fun novelty yarns it is easier to work with if combined with a plain yarn in a coordinating color. It also creates a more functional fabric for scarves and accessories. For a really cool look try combining 3 or 4 different yarns with various textures into one scarf.

Crafty Tip
I suggest starting with high quality materials which will ensure a better end result. For example, natural fiber yarns generally are of better quality and more comfortable to wear than those containing acrylic and other man-made materials. The finished product also looks more "expensive" and not so cheap. It is true that superior materials are more pricey but in the end it's worth it and your customers will appreciate it.

To make your digital scrapbooking layouts look "right" - make sure to select the "use global light" option (when in Photoshop) when you add drop shadows. This ensures that all the elements' shadows are on the same side/angle.

Jackie Poutasse shares some great tutorials on book making and binding in her blog. These tutorials are in the form of a series of PDF files that can be viewed from her site. She has been making books since the early 90's, a time when new book artists were often on their own to develop their craft. Jackie teaches bookbinding workshops in the Norfolk, VA area and sells custom and pre-made books.

Crafty Tip
When cutting binder boards, do not try to cut completely through the board in one pass. This will help ensure a nice straight and sharp edge.
