Judy Niemeyer Quilting

Judy Niemeyer, a quilting instructor who shares her expertise across North America and Canada, founded our family owned and operated business in the mid-1990's. Since then, we have produced more than a hundred foundation paper piecing quilt patterns that are quite popular with quilters and quilt shops. We also conduct quilt retreats where quilters meet and have fun quilting. Be sure to check out our Samples gallery where you can see pictures of finished quilts made with our patterns.

Foundation Paper Piecing Crafty Tip
If you would rather glue your foundation paper piecing patterns to your fabric than pin them, you can use a glue stick. Use only one very light swipe of glue and don't press down too hard otherwise it will be difficult to remove the pattern from your fabric.

Cross Stitch Kits by Yiotas XStitch

Yiotas is a family run business from England. They specialise in cross stitch kits and patterns inspired by fine art masters and the Victoria era. Their kits come with a multi-page pattern, instructions, 14-count Aida, presorted and carded Madeira threads and a full-color picture of the finished piece. Patterns also include DMC color charts. Check out the quality of our patterns through one of our free downloadable patterns.

Crafty Tip
If you have pets or small children do not keep your cross stitch materials in a bag. Keeping your threads, needles and scissors in a box that shuts securely will prevent little fingers and paws from getting into things easily!

Using a highlighter in a light color - yellow works very well for marking off stitches or areas of stitching as you complete them. If your lighting makes the yellow hard to see at night, you could use another color like green or blue or orange when stitching at night.

Micro Macrame Crafty Tip
For micro macrame and braiding make your own board. Cut a piece of board 4 inches wide x 20 inches long. Cut 5 pieces of cotton bump the same size and lay onto the board. Cover with a piled fabric like velour or chenille, pull the fabric round to the back of the board and staple in place. You now have your own board to pin threads to for braiding and micro macrame and the piled fabric will stop your work sliding about.

Sesenarts

Julie Smith is doing wonders with Australian wool fibers and hand-painted silk and chiffon fabrics. Her fashion scarves and textile jewelry showcase the beauty of the individual fibers but it is the way she combines them together that turns them into wearable art. Whether you're the kind of gal who wears leather or lace, you will find something in her Etsy shop that matches your personal style.

Crafty Tip
A great way of storing small amounts of different coloured wool roving or silk that takes up little space and is easily sorted and quick to find is to use a plastic shoe holder rack. Hang it on the wall and use the pockets to store your wool.
