Sewing Machines Crafty Tip

Our best advice is buy the right tool for the job! Don’t expect a cheap light weight sewing machine to sew up your heavy weight curtains trouble free; it just won't happen, wherever you buy it from. It has to be ‘fit for purpose’.

Sewing Machines Crafty Tip

TIP ON SEWING MACHINE TENSION

One of the main reasons people complain about tension is simply putting in the needle the wrong way round! The standard domestic machine has a flat sided needle and the code for the correct needle is 705h. The needle has a flat and rounded top. For a machine to work correctly a needle must be put into a sewing machine the right way round. PLEASE REMEMBER FLAT TO THE BACK!

Another cause for having irregular tension is the needle is blunt because it has not been changed for years. You should really change your needle after every full garment made. Also please remember to use the correct type of needle for various different fabrics. The size of standard needles go from a 60 to 110 in gradients of 10. The bigger the number the thicker the needle. For example 110 size would be suitable for heavy upholstery. Happy Sewing!
