Bobbins come with a small hole at the bottom. This hole is there so you can attach a spangle. A spangle is simply a small ring of wire with a few beads that will help the bobbin to lie flat on your lace pillow, help you to keep track of your bobbin pairs, and are simply decorative.
Jen shares a well-illustrated step by step guide to learn how to tat. Her instructions are clear and start at the beginning - how to wind yarn onto a shuttle. Be sure to check out her Scrapbook of Tatting Projects as she shares several free patterns and sources of the others so you can try your hand at all of the great projects she has done.
